SVS & LCDAS Help Save a Puppy’s Life…and then some.

SVS specialists, Dr. Ryan Cavanaugh and Dr. Jennifer Messinger, diagnosed “Rudy” with a rare congenital lung disease called Congenital Lobar Emphysema. Rudy, a resident of Lee County Domestic Animal Services (LCDAS) and member of Lee County’s “Cell Dog” Program, needed surgery urgently to have the diseased lung removed. The teams at LCDAS, Lee County Sheriff, and SVS joined forces to give Rudy a fair chance at life.

Meet Rachel! Rachel is an emergency and ICU nurse at here at SVS. Recently, Rachel was voted “TOP DOG” by her SVS co-workers for her outstanding nursing and mentoring skills. Rachel works tirelessly to ensure patients receive treatments, monitoring, and the TLC needed to recover from major illnesses and surgery.

Cardiology at SVS is also ‘for the birds’

SVS Cardiologist, Dr. Sarah Scruggs recently had the chance to assist the Clinic for Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW). The beautiful Swallow-tailed Kite pictured here needed an echocardiogram to investigate for congenital heart disease. Dr. Scruggs performed the echocardiogram with the assistance of CROW team members: Dr. Kristen Dube and veterinary student, Elena Millard.

2014 Animaltarian Award

Dr. Eisele Receives 2014 Animaltarian Award

On February 28, the Humane Society Naples honored Dr. Jason Eisele of Specialized Veterinary Services as their 2014 Animaltarian. Dr. Eisele received the award for providing surgery and other specialty services to their shelter pets.
