Kayla was born into a family of animal lovers in West Warwick RI. Not long into childhood, her family relocated to Florida for her mother’s job in the airlines. The opportunity to grow up both in Rhode Island and Florida provided her a unique viewpoint of the world. It offered a variety of experiences with the natural world and the creatures that reside in it. It made the decision of representing the environment an easy life choice.
Kayla loves learning new things. She earned an AA degree and a class III animal license through FF&W. She is currently finishing a degree in environmental biology with a duel minor in interdisciplinary studies and environmental education. Kayla will soon be transitioning to a master’s program in wildlife biology or ecology with the Peace Corps of America.
Kayla joined the SVS Team in 2015 and adores assisting in all the miracle cases that SVS helps make a reality on a daily basis. When she is not at work or in class, Kayla enjoys donating time connecting people with nature at the Calusa Nature Center, traveling, reading, or generally spending time outdoors. Kayla has three cats and a ferret that she loves more than anything in the world, Phantom, Moby, Eva, and Dyson.
